We may use personal information to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, provide maritime career services, display relevant vacancies, support applications, enable communication between users, maintain platform security, verify information, prevent fraud, provide customer support, and improve the platform.

4. Profile Visibility

Seafarers may be provided with controls governing profile visibility. Depending on the selected settings, profile information may be visible publicly, to verified employers, or only to the account holder.

Certain information may remain private even when other profile information is visible. We aim to limit access to sensitive documents and information to authorized purposes and users.

5. Documents and Maritime Credentials

Maritime documents may contain sensitive personal information. Where users upload documents such as certificates, seaman books, licenses, passports, or sea service records, those documents should be processed only for legitimate maritime recruitment, verification, profile management, or related services.

6. How Information May Be Shared

Information may be shared with other platform users where necessary to provide the service. For example, employers may receive information supplied by a seafarer when reviewing a profile or application, while seafarers may receive information supplied by employers about vacancies or recruitment.

We do not intend to sell personal information as a standalone product. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, necessary to protect platform security, investigate fraud, enforce our terms, or protect users and third parties.

7. Email Communications

Sea Licensing may send transactional emails necessary to operate your account, including email verification, password-reset messages, security notices, application updates, and other service-related communications.

8. Authentication and Security

Passwords are not intended to be stored in readable form. Sea Licensing uses password hashing and secure session mechanisms designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Users should use strong, unique passwords, protect access to their email accounts and devices, and notify us if they suspect unauthorized account activity.

Please include “Account and data deletion request” in the subject line and tell us the email address used for your Sea Licensing account. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.

After verification, we will delete or anonymize information that we are not required to retain. Some records may be retained where necessary for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other lawful operational purposes.

Sea Licensing is intended for professional maritime and recruitment use and is not designed as a service for children. Users must meet any minimum age or legal capacity requirements applicable to the services they use.
